I have recently taken a trip back to Vancouver, a city where I have spent half my life in, to visit some friends and to try and see more of the amazing British Columbia. Lucky enough, I got to see the aurora, the snow, and the sea-to-sky highway in just a brief two-week visit. It has never been about just seeing different tourist attractions for me when I visit a place. As a matter of fact, it has always been about how much I get to learn about the local culture, and if I get to meet and talk to new people– that is the most attractive thing about traveling to me.
This is why this all-new collection of travel writing compiled by the stories of 34 different authors has caught my eyes. Edited by Don George, The Lonely Planet Travel Anthology is the 10th literary anthology he has edited for Lonely Planet and also marks his 40th year as a travel writer and editor.
An array of essayists, novelists, mystery writers, journalists, and travel writers from around the globe were approached and they have offers their own travel experience in this book. Including a “world-spanning spectrum of themes, styles and settings”, this book is definitely a great one to have at home and could well be a great gift for your travel-loving friends and families during this festive season.
