When a fashion designer is at work, it is as majestic as a magician who is preparing for his magic trick. The beauty that they can see, and have thus created, can appear quite surreal to the outside world. What runs in the minds of these irreplaceable creatives are a mystery to us, yet, the latest SS16 campaign by Joyce boutique has tried to reveal what it is really like to see creators shape and express their inner self to us.
In hands with photographer Wing Shya, the project has captured fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, right before the execution of his SS16 women’s show. Presented in a dreamy set of images, it not only showcases different moments in the Paris Atelier, but it also gives us a vibe of the whole atmosphere, from how “defiant shapes emerge watched on by their creator”, to how “his team reacts to subtle direction, not a word is spoken as they refine and make final adjustments to his work”.
Capturing a somewhat behind-the-scene side of the renowned designer himself, this SS16 Atelier Project is quite the “testimonial of the designer’s work through the eyes of JOYCE”.
