Trends are forever going to continuously drift in and out of the fashion world, making it nearly impossible to keep up with the constant demands. However, in 2015 a trend has arrived, which is different to the rest and reserved only for the most adventurous individual.
For those who haven’t heard of the trend ‘sports luxe’, it is a combination of sports and luxury wear, which is seamlessly combined to create an ultimate balance between style and comfort. It has helped designers create something a little more alternative, where their fashion walks are adapted accordingly, in order to move past the traditional styles. (Consider Neil Barrett’s SS15 Collection for example.) This style is increasingly popular with the younger generation.
No matter what trend it is, there will always be an item that act as the trend’s foundation. With sports luxe clothing, their foundation item is definitely the sweatpants or the joggers. (Take our editor’s favorite joggers brand Publish for example.) Even though joggers used to be negatively connoted, designers have quickly tailored them into something that can now be regarded as ‘smart’ looking. Designers have included technical fabrics so that an element of luxury is added to it. (Here, we must mention Alexander Wang.) Not only has this rejuvenated the idea of sweatpants, it has also seen them to have a surge in popularity.
Many people may still have negative associations with men’s tracksuits, but sports luxe is entirely different. (Check out Cott Weiler‘s design if you don’t believe us.) The concept, style and attention to detail empowers the contrasting style with a more luxurious association. The demand for anything sport luxe related, such as mixing blazers, shirts, sweatpants and trainers or shoes, have greatly increased.
The sports luxe look, however, is something that needs to be tried and practiced. There are many different options to choose from, as hoodies and bomber jackets have now been tailored accordingly, they are able to offer a new look with their usage of technical fabrics. Each element that you decide to add will give you something different, so experiment with it and see what you can come up with.
