Having recently opened in Causeway Bay, L CARÈNE is a new select shop that gathers quality ready-to-wear, accessories, stationery and houseware designs under one single roof. This small store which was founded by sisters Carol and Carina was designed by a French designer, who has encompassed the surprise-filled space with an amazing vibe.
Carrying 34 brands from New York, Paris, Australia and more; they have particularly highlighted names including Ace & Jig, Suzie Winkle, Clare V, WHiT, Tryb 212, No.6 Store, and Season Paper. Not to mention, a lot of these brands that they have selected were chosen for their environmental friendliness, which is a shared belief of L CARÈNE.
For example, Ace & Jig creates designs from vintage fabric that designers Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson has found during their travels. All the materials that they source are from India which are washed with recycled water and are hand woven. Each of their products carries a strong social responsibility, which not only supports the recycling concept but also exercises strong creativity.
Another example would be Season Paper from France. Inspired by vintage graphic design styles and colorful prints, all of their cards are made in USA with 100% recycled paper. They are also printed with soybean ink, which is environmentally friendlier than regular ink.
At the same time, a lot of the brands available at L CARÈNE were founded by entrepreneurs who have previously worked with well-known brands. Suzie Winkle, for example, was founded by ex-Isabel Marant stylist and designer, Laury Aragues. She emphasizes on casual cuttings which are trendy yet comfortable. Her pieces are produced with printed materials from Europe. WHiT was founded by ex-Kate Spade designer, Whitney. WHiT’s designs are particularly vibrant in colors and made up of patterns which are quirky and fun. Last but not least, Tryb 212 was founded by ex-Ralph Lauren, DKNY and Rebecca Taylor designers, Jeffrey Cayer and Sonali Singh. For SS17, they have created a Bohemian inspired collection which consist of a lot of off-shoulder pieces, making their products perfect for this upcoming season.
